This is, after Spain vs Portugal, the flagship game of the tournament so far. Starting off with a 2-0 win in second gear, Croatia know that victory here would both put them through and make Argentina really sweat.
Argentina News
The baffling nature of their early performance against Iceland was that they simply looked so disjointed. With Argentina fans might not be too shocked, the rest of the world struggled to believe just how poor Argentina looked.
The squad looks a mess, with no real balance to their line-up. It’s hard to really say much about Argentina other than, if they cannot get Lionel Messi to fire, then they’ll crash out pretty soon.

Croatia News
Croatia looked quite dull against Nigeria, but they did a good job of killing off their own threat whilst making themselves relatively solid. In Dejan Lovren and Domagoj Vida, they have two very strong and impressive defenders who can be relied upon to keep the opposition out – when concentration allows.
In Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic, they have two diamond midfield players who can help them dictate the game with relative ease, especially against such a disjointed Argentine midfield.
Verdict
We think that Croatia will win here – but not by much. Argentina might need a result, but they might need to get a result against Nigeria and hope Croatia do them a favour. The Croats look more of a balanced team than Argentina, and that could make the difference.
