After confirming that both Manuel Neuer and Nathaniel Brown will feature in Germany’s opening match, Nagelsmann explained that Musiala needs consistent minutes to regain full rhythm and reach his best level on the pitch.
“Jamal is ready for the starting eleven. He still has a few steps to take – but he can only take them if we let him play and give him game time,” he said at his press conference.
“He [Musiala] simply hasn’t had that rhythm for a long time, but thankfully he’s been playing more with us recently. We have complete faith in him.
“I absolutely agree with Lothar [Matthäus] on that. We have to give him playing time, and he’ll get that [against Curaçao],” Nagelsmann added.
Klopp, meanwhile, later clarified on Magenta TV that his comments had been misinterpreted in translation, stressing he did not want Musiala out of the team, but rather believed his minutes should be carefully managed.
