In what many perceive to be the strangest of derbies, Crystal Palace play host to Brighton and Hove Albion. Both sides are in need of a result, Palace especially. Can the Eagles overcome the Seagulls?

For Palace, the loss of so many players is a major blow. Scott Dann, Jason Puncheon, Bakary Sako, Connor Wickham, Alexander Sorloth, Joel Ward, Jeffrey Schlupp and Christian Benteke are all missing.
That’s a huge injury list, especially for a squad not exactly blessed with depth. Their propensity to concede late, vital goals will mean substitutions from Roy Hodgson will be of major importance. Can the Eagles pull this off? The fact they have so many out says otherwise.
While they drew 2-2 with Bournemouth last time out, it was at the expense of yet another late goal. With so many points lost in promising situations, there’s an acute fear that so many late losses of form will lead to Palace going down.
If they are to get anything here, it will be down to the form of Andros Townsend and Wilfied Zaha; both who are expected to start up top.

Meanwhile, Brighton can rely upon the stout solidity of Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk at the back. The duo has been among the best partnerships in the Premier League in 2017-18. While the likes of Beram Kayal and Jose Izquierdo have disappointed in large patches since the turn of the year, Brighton manage to bleed results out of matches.
Midfielder Pascal Groß is one of their key performers, and has been vital in many of the best Brighton performances. The German midfielder is a key catalyst to their success. When he is in the game, victory is more likely.
Match-up to watch
While Dunk and Duffy are a solid partnership, their handling of Townsend and Zaha will be crucial in this one. They are more suited to handling the physical domination of someone like a Benteke; pace in behind is not their strong suit.
